Fayres - 2010

We try and attend as many Fayres and Events as possible during the year to promote our Cat Rescue voluntary services and ask for your support in raising money and re-homing our beautiful rescue cats and kittens.

At the last May Fare on 1 May, organised by The International Business Association (TIBA) we placed 2 of our cats for adoption.

At the Christmas Fayre, organised by the shop owners at Benimar Shopping Centre at Benijofar we managed 3 adoptions.

This Is Spain Exhibitions 2010

We attended the exhibition held between 23 - 25 April and managed to re-home 4 cats over the 3 days.

During the last one 19 - 21 November we placed 3 cats for adoption.

Utopiacats are extremely proud that we have managed to successfully place 62 cats for adoption since we started in Jul. 2009.

I'm an animal rescuer.
My job is to assist God's creatures;
I was born with the need to fulfill their needs;
I take in new family members without plan, thought, or selection;
I have bought cat food with my last dime;
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand;
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid;
I have fallen in love a thousand times
and I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body.

I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends;
I don't often use the word "pet";
I notice those lost at the road side
and my heart aches;
I will hand raise a field mouse
and make friends with a vulture;
I know of no creature unworthy of my time

I want to live forever if there aren't animals in Heaven,
But I believe there are;
Why would God make something so perfect and leave it behind?
We may be master of the animals,
But the animals have mastered themselves;
Something people still haven't learned.

War and Abuse makes me hurt for the world,
But a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind;
We are a quiet but determined army,
And making a difference every day.

There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan,
nothing more rewarding than saving a life,
No higher recognition than watching them thrive;
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who only days ago, was too weak to eat.

Poppy ha dado negativo en el test de

leucemia, está totalmente integrada con el resto asi como

con los perros, está operada, una vez que sale fuera es dificil

que vuelva a la casa, se pasa el dia de un arbol a otro.

Poppy's test for leukemia is negative and she is

totally integrated with the cat family as well as the dogs.

She has been sterilized and now asks to go out in the

garden where she enjoys spending time climbing

every tree. 

Llegaron hace al final de abril, con no mas de 4 semanas,

y han empezado a comer solitos.

They have arrived at the end of April with only

4 weeks old.  Now they eat on their own. 

Son adorables y claro muy activos!

Han dado positivo en leucemia, como todo el mundo sabe 

  es una enfermedad que se trasmite solo entre gatos, es decir

no afecta ni a perros ni a personas, por eso quien los adopte,

tienen que ser personas que tengan perros o que solo los tengan a ellos.

 Actualmente viven los tres juntos, en una habitación aislada,

ya que podrian contagiar al resto, están realmente sanos,

no tienen ningún síntoma, y están castrados.

Se llevan estupendamente con nuestros tres perros

con los que juegan ya que como digo no tienen contacto con

el resto de los gatos.

Se que seria un milagro el que fueran adoptados los tres juntos,

pero yo creo en los milagros, ( los veo cada vez que algún gato

que deberia morir atropellado por un coche,  

cazado por algún perro o llevado a la perrera municipal para

ser  "eliminado", dado que es lo que ocurre cuando viven en la calle )

es adoptado por gente que a pesar de tener ya sus mascotas,

no les importa hacer un hueco en la familia para uno más.

Asi que como creo en los milagros se que

alguno de vosotros adoptareís a Pixi, Dixi y Chufi.

Their tests for leukemia are positive.  As everybody knows,

this virus can be transmitted to other cats but is not

contagious to dogs and people.  So their adoption in a

home with dogs is possible as they are used to live

with our dogs.  

For the moment, the 3 together are

isolated in a spare bedroom and, once a day,

we take them out to the garden when all our cats have

came back inside.  They have been neutered, and do not

need any medication as they are "healthy", not showing

any symptoms of being ill. They are just "carrier"of the virus.

They are absolute purring machines and we need someone

with a big heart that can make the space at home to

adopt Pixi, Dixi and Chufi together...

That would be a miracle!

YA HAN SIDO ADOPTADOS

Zena se fué a vivir a Valencia.

Zena went to live in Valencia.

Al igual que sus hermanos Rocky y Tango fueron adoptados

antes de los 5 meses, Tango y samba se fueron juntos con una

familia inglesa (Linda and The Boss) a Castalla.

Just like their brothers Rocky and Tango, all were adopted

before 5 months old.  Tango and Samba went together with

an English couple (Linda and The Boss) in Castalla, Alicante. 

Quien no lo querría????

Who would not want him?

Betty tambien ha tenido mucha suerte y ahora vive en Francia

con la madre de Sylvie, una gran amiga nuestra.  Lo sé,  fué un viaje

terrible para vosotros pero tambien se que mereció la pena, 

y  que el mejor regalo para Betty no solo fué ir en Francia sino llevarla

con tu madre, gracias Sylvie.

 Betty was very lucky to be adopted as an adult, and now lives in France.

Our girlfriend Sylvie had a very long road trip to deliver Betty at her

Mom's house and it was worth it.  Thank you Sylvie!

La misma familia que trajo a Chloe un miercoles, se la llevaron

esa misma semana el sábado, la sorpresa vino después de

 1 mes descubrieron que era un chico, esta claro que fué

él quien les adoptó a ellos.  Gracias Ellie y Natasha.

The same family who found Chloe and brought her to us

one Wednesday came back at the end of that same week having 

made the decision to adopt her.  It is clear that Chloe had adopted them.

The surprise came a month later when they realized Chloe

was not a female... Thank you Ellie and Natasha! 

Odessa ha sido adoptada por una familia sueca, ya está todo preparado

para su viaje, que mas puedo comentar sobre esta adopción, me

quedo sin palabras, que decir de estas personas? solo se me ocurre

decir gracias Trevor y Lupe, vosotros lo habeis hecho posible, y por

supuesto gracias a la familia que la ha adoptado.

Odessa has been adopted by a swedish family, and they are

preparing her for a long trip.  What more can we say about this adoption?

We are left without words to describe certain people who cross our path.

We can only say thank you to Trevor and Lupe who have made this adoption

possible and of course our thanks also to the adoptive family who

obviously just fell in love with Odessa... 

Dallas es hermano de Austin y fué adoptado al poco de llegar

a nuestra casa.  Ahora vive con una famila holandesa en Aspe.

Gracias Catharina.

Dallas is Austin's brother.  He did not stay long with us and was

adopted rapidly by a family from Holand.  He now lives in a house

in Aspe, Alicante. Thanks Catharina. 

Austin, al que hoy llaman Smokie, tambien fué adoptado al poco de llegar,

le seguimos viendo de vez es cuando pues nos lo traen cuando tienen

que ir de viaje sus padres adoptivos, Sandy y Allen.

Austin is now called Smokie, and was also adopted shortly after his arrival.

We see him again when his parents have to make a trip to England and

leave him in our care with his new sister. Thank you Sandy and Allen!

 Rocky y Dora viven ahora en Torrevieja en casa de Patrick.

at Lucie's house...  That is a grand family!

Rocky, the black siamese, has been adopted with

her Mom, Dora, at Patrick's house

in Torrevieja, and he just loves his 2 new daughters.

Sunny y Luna se han ido a vivir a Gran Alacant, Santa Pola, y las tenemos

 de nuevo pero solo de visita cuando sus padres viajan en Portugal.

Ahora se llaman Sushi y Pizza... Muchas gracias Pedro y Ana!

Sunny and Luna went to live in Gran Alacant, Santa Pola,

and we see them again when their adoptive parents have to go

back to Portugal. They are now called Sushi and Pizza...

Thanks a lot Pedro and Ana!

Tootsie vive en torrevieja, ya de pequeñita fué operada de una hernia

aun asi no hubo problemas para su adopción, y eso que todavia

  tenia los puntos de sutura, gracias Carmen.

Tootsie now lives in Torrevieja.  Although she had just been operated

of an hernia, that was not a problem for her adoption, she still had

stitches to be removed when she went to her new home...

Thank you Carmen! 

Sheila and Lola fueron las primeras en ser adoptadas, como

muchos de los que hemos ido encontrando abandonados

o nacidos en la calle, actualmente viven como 2 princesas en Gran Alacant.

Gracias Hans y Ria por seguir ayudandonos con UTOPIA CATS.

Sheila and Lola were the first ones to be adopted like the many

others we have found abandonned or born in the streets.

They now live like 2 princesses in a nice home in Gran Alacant,

thanks to Hans and Ria! We are lucky to continue seeing them as

Ria became actively involved with us, at UTOPIA CATS.

HISTORIA DE UN GATO ABANDONADO

Es posible que alguien me diga que he copiado este cuento, es cierto, pero no he resistido la tentación de incluirlo en este Blog por su utilidad para hacernos comprender lo que estamos haciendo con los mejores amigos del hombre. Cada día hay más animales abandonados. Y no hablo exclusivamente de los gatos. Por desgracia tanto gatos como perros son abandonados por millares cada año en cada ciudad del planeta.

Debemos concienciarnos de la tremenda injusticia y fatalidad que cometemos al abandonar a un animal. Sé que para muchos de nosotros es algo inconcebible. De hecho, para cualquier mente con un poco de sentido común el abandono es una atrocidad.

Los animales tienen sentimientos y es algo muy triste ver como las personas que considerabas tu familia…quien pensabas que te amaba….de repente se van sin ti. Debe ser muy duro ver como se alejan y sentir que nunca más los vas a volver a ver. Esta historia plasma lo que puede llegar a sentir un animal al sufrir esta barbaridad. A mí me pone la piel de gallina. Espero que a ustedes también les guste.

Historia de un Gato abandonado

Cuanta gente a mí alrededor. Hoy he cumplido una semana… ¡Qué alegría haber llegado a este mundo!

Mes 1:
Cuanto cariño me da mi mamá. Estoy encantado con mi mamá.

Mes 2:
Hoy me han separado de mamá. Ella estaba muy inquieta, y con sus ojos me dijo adiós. Esperando que mi nueva "familia humana" me cuidara tan bien como ella lo había hecho.

Mes 3:
He crecido rápido; todo me llama la atención. Hay varios niños en la casa que para mí son como "hermanitos".

Mes 5:
Hoy me regañaron. Mi madre se molestó porque me hice " pipi " adentro de la casa; pero nunca me habían dicho dónde debo hacerlo. Además duermo en un armario... ¡y ya no me aguantaba!

Mes 6:
Soy un gato feliz. Tengo el calor de un hogar; me siento tan seguro, tan protegido. Creo que mi familia humana me quiere y me consiente mucho.

Cuando están en la mesa me dan de comer.

Mes 12:
Hoy cumplí un año. Soy un gato adulto. Mis amos dicen que crecí más de lo que ellos pensaban. Que orgullosos se deben de sentir de mí.

Mes 13:
Qué mal me sentí hoy. "Mi hermanito" me quitó la pelota. Yo nunca agarro sus juguetes, así que se la quité. Pero mis patas tienen garras y le he hecho daño sin querer. Después del susto, me han encerrado. Dicen que van a tenerme en observación y que soy malo. No entiendo nada de lo que pasa.

Mes 14:
Ya nada es igual... No me dejan salir al jardín. Me siento muy solo, mi familia ya no me quiere. A veces se les olvida que tengo hambre y sed.

Mes 15:

Hoy me han dejado salir al jardín. Creo que mi familia me ha perdonado y me he puesto tan contento que daba saltos de alegría.

Encima me van a llevar con ellos de paseo. Nos enfilamos hacia la carretera y de repente se pararon. Abrieron la puerta y yo me bajé feliz creyendo que haríamos nuestro "día de campo". No comprendo por qué cerraron la puerta y se fueron."¡Oigan, esperen!" Se... se olvidan de mí. Corrí detrás del coche con todas mis fuerzas.

Mi angustia crecía al darme cuenta, que casi me desvanecía y ellos no se detenían: me habían olvidado.

Mes 16:

He tratado en vano de buscar el camino de regreso a casa. Me siento y estoy perdido. En mi sendero hay gente de buen corazón que me ve con tristeza y me da algo de comer. Yo les agradezco con mi mirada y desde el fondo con mi alma. Yo quisiera que me adoptaran y seria leal a ellos. Pero solo dicen "pobre gatito", se ha perdido.

Mes 17:

El otro día pasé por una escuela y ví a muchos niños y jóvenes como mis "hermanitos". Me acerqué, y un grupo de ellos, riéndose, me lanzó una lluvia de piedras "a ver quien tenia mejor puntería". Una de esas piedras me lastimó el ojo y desde entonces ya no veo con él.

Mes 18:

Ya estoy muy flaco; mi aspecto ha cambiado. Perdí mi ojo y la gente más bien me saca a escobazos cuando pretendo echarme en una pequeña sombra.

Mes 19:

Casi no puedo moverme. Hoy al tratar de cruzar la calle por donde pasan los coches, uno me arrolló. Estaba en un lugar seguro, en la cuneta, pero nunca olvidaré la mirada de satisfacción del conductor, que hasta giró el coche para pillarme. Ojala me hubiera matado, pero solo me ha dislocado la cadera. El dolor es terrible, mis patas traseras no me responden y con dificultades he podido arrastrarme hacia un poco de hierba a ladera del camino.

Mes 20:

Llevo 10 días bajo el sol, la lluvia, el frío, sin comer. Ya no me puedo mover. El dolor es insoportable. Me siento muy mal. Parece que hasta mi pelo se está cayendo.

Ya casi estoy inconsciente; pero alguna fuerza extraña me hizo abrir los ojos. La dulzura de su voz me hizo reaccionar. "Pobre gatito, mira como lo han dejado", decía... junto a ella venía un señor de bata blanca, empezó a tocarme y dijo: "Lo siento señora, pero este gato ya no tiene remedio, es mejor que deje de sufrir." A la gentil dama se le salieron las lágrimas y asintió. Como pude la miré agradeciéndole me ayudara a descansar. Solo sentí el picotazo de la inyección y me dormí para siempre pensando en por qué tuve que nacer si nadie me quería.

La solución no es echar un gato a la calle, sino educarlo. No conviertas en problema una grata compañía.

Ayuda a abrir conciencia y así poder acabar con el problema de los gatos callejeros.

NECESITAN SER ADOPTADOS

Born on the 9th of March in our own cattery, they now eat solid food and they can be adopted.
They look exactly like their mother named Hope, who has been spayed, and her too needs a home.  She has been tested for leukemia, so we know her kittens are also "clean" since they have never been outdoors.
They look all black, but one has a white belly, another one has the white "bikini", and the last one only a white spot under the chin and on the belly as well.  The 3 of them are soooooo cute! 

We have a new siamese family... 2 chocolate points, 1 lilac point, and... a black siamese!  They were born on the 31st of March.  No need to say much about them as we are pretty sure they are going to be adopted quickly...  Their mother, named Coco, will need a new home as well.  She is a young chocolate point siamese (of small size) and still very timid with people but with time, we can tell she has accepted to have us around.

Encontrada en Santa Pola, a los 5 meses, la madre fué adoptada por una familia de la comunidad donde fuera encontrada.  Sonia se ocupó de ellas hasta que se tuvo que volver a su pais, Francia.  Esta vacunada y super sana, es muy sociable lo que la hace candidata para cualquier hogar y compañia de otras mascotas.

Found in Santa Pola when she was 5 months old.  Her mother has been adopted with a family living in that same community.  Sonia took care of them the whole summer of 2009 until she had to go back to her country, in France.  Charlotte is vaccinated and spayed, she is very social and would be a good candidate for a new home in company of other pets.
